      New Connection

      Hi all

Managed to get connected to the max package with out any hassle (except for Parceline buts thats another story!)

I'm getting speeds of between 3.3 and 6.5 mb according to speedtest.net and adslguide.

Ive searched for this but cant find anything on these forums. Is there a stabilisation period after which the line becomes more stable or did I dream that?

      Stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.5 db 14.2 db
Noise Margin 10.3 db 11.6 db

Does that all tally with the speeds Im getting? Must admit I thought it would be faster or am I just being impatient?!

      Thanks in advance

      try downloading this: ftp://anonymous:@ftp.mirror.ac.uk:21...i386-disc2.iso

what speed does it stay stable at? http tests aren't 100% reliable.

Thanks for the reply. I'm downloading the link - what is it?!

Got up to 8 on the html test last night. 4 seems about average, no drop outs or anything.

(Except for the wireless dongle locking up the computer )

if you look in the speed test section you could try the optimizer in there. It may help!

      Welcome to the site Jonny

      My stats are very similar
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.0 db 13.7 db
Noise Margin 10.0 db 12.5 db
as you can see and I can get 1.6MB/s from the link that OhNoes posted so it would be a good idea for follow Hugsie advice and optimise your settings see here Optimising your Broadband Connection

      Good luck
      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      speedtest is looking ok
not the max you can achieve, but i dont think there is anything wrong with your connection, just the servers you are downloading from arent providing the full capacity for your connection.

      Thumbs up

Just had a go at downloading that file again and it stabilised at 1.3 mb which is a definite improvement
