I'm a connect user and I must say I have noticed the speed vary in the day time compared to what it was, have rebooted router has made no different, When I was will AOL and my speed dropped in the day I would phone them up and complain and they would say we will turn the gain up ( think that the way it's spelt ) the the download speed would increase if AOL has this surely sky has as well, as both AOL and sky have been on BT line.

that's a load of rubbish - you can't turn the line up at all!! and even if you could, it would take about 3 days to do it...BT's system doesn't work on immediate adjustments...

IAmNotTheEnemy when I was with AOL that it what I was told by their CS and I must say within a few hours I noticed an increase of at least 1.5 to my line speed,

I'm not expert on line speeds etc, But how do BT throttle the connect lines at perk times it must be the same turn line up/down don't you think

This is unrelated to Sky. Since the days of XP SP2, Microsoft introduced a limitation on the number of simultaneous TCP half-open connections your computer can make (an effort to stop worms spreading but breaks a lot of P2P apps).

The best solution is to patch your tcpip.sys - have a Google and all will be revealed.

      Thanks, I will try that.

It's still odd it just suddenly happened though, everything was fine before.

I think that's because it depends on the torrent.

Re: sky policy on bit torrent

Having been a Max customer for several years, but recently (due to house move) am now stuck with Connect, all I can say is this traffic shaping really sucks.

I'm no big downloader, but only getting 4-5kB/s is rediculous when you have an (upto) 8meg connection, my torrents used to go faster when i was only a 512k adsl line....

I wish I could have my Max back, please Sky more LLU exchanges
