      Download slowed to 0kb...?

      Hi, over the last 24 hours or so my internet connection has slowly deteriorated.
      Iím on the mid 8mb package, and itís been pretty good up until now. Ethernet connected
      I just did the connection test on this site and it initially said I had 0kb of download speed! Redoing it improved it to 256kb Ė though this feels more like 28kb.

      Also when I do a sky test in the router it says unable to detect internet connection.
      Iím a bit of a novice to be honest, but here are what I think are my statsÖ


      ADSL Firmware Version 6.02.01.00
      Modem Status Connected
      DownStream Connection Speed 6016 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

      Or maybe these?

      At first I thought it was just firefox as my torrents werenít affected, though now Iím getting 0kb for downloading.
      Google.co.uk took 50 seconds to load up!!

      I hate it when things go wrong on my PC

      Any help would be much appreciated as Iím getting mightily frustrated here

      your Noise margin has hit rock bottom.

      Reboot the router and it should be fine.

      Hi, I did reboot the router yesterday AM, left it unplugged for a minute and then restarted, still the same issues.
      Will try again tonight though

      Hmmm, I pay the bargain £17 a month package, I'm actually not positive it is mid though, sorry, I may have misinformed you.

      Just had a terrible experience with Sky customer services

      Stats after a reboot

      The guy basically had me using the test socket, which made very little difference, went through many annoying steps because he's clearly reading from an autocue.
      Sky: Try without phone line
      Me: No difference
      Sky: Now try with just the sky+ line in
      Me: No
      Sky: now try with neither
      Me: No.
      Sky: OK now clear your history and your cookies and your temporary files
      Me: OK, but no difference
      Sky: OK I don't know what else to do, it's not your router or our broadband, so it must be.... your pc. Can I suggest you take it to a shop and get it looked at.
      Me: But even when I go to 192.168.0.01 it takes about 3 minutes to load, and the 'Return To Home Page' image isn't even loading for ages after that
      Sky: Yep, must be your PC, is there anything else I can help you with?

      do a search for Mels notes on here and get your detailed router stats and post them back up.

      Have you hammered your internet connection?

      Do you think you have gone over the 40GB cap?

      It maybe possible that your are being traffic managed, if so, as the £17 a month suggests that you are on Connect.

      Oh god, I hadn't even considered I could go over my limit as I've never even been near before.
      However, I have just downloaded 5 seasons of Spooks which is about 40gb, coupled with a few albums off Itunes I could well have gone over...

      How long does this traffic managed last and more to the point, why the hell didn't the fella on the phone tell me that?

      EDIT - JUST CHECKED AND SPOOKS IS ONLY 4% D/L, YET ON THE ACTUAL FOLDER IT SAYS 40GB... ??
