      Re: sky broadband max

you will download at about 85% of your sync rate, so 4416*.85 = 3753. Your DL looks fine compared to your sync rate.

just did that tcp optimizer and it said

Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 40 bytes ->Request Timed Out
Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 40 bytes ->Request Timed Out
Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 40 bytes ->Request Timed Out
Couldn't determine largest possible MTU due to packets being lost.
You might want to try a different URL

Because you choose Max, I assume for the unlimited downloads

Max is not just about download speed.

Max gives you truly unlimited downloads.

      Max gives you faster uploads.

If you don't need any of those 2 then you should consider trying to change to Mid.

Max is an UPTO 16Mb package which means anything from 0 to 16Mb.

I only get 6Mb, but am on max thru personal choice.

I'm not a gamer, but isn't it more to do with Pings as opposed to download speed?

If so then do a search for 'max delay' and that will sort you out.

      Re: sky broadband max

      err, you've lost me.

The max speed you can get depends on your distance from the exchange. This is measured by your line attenuation.

Your line attenuation is 52db. 52db will provide a speed of 5Mb which you are not far off.

Every phone line ISP will provide the same download speed (only a cable ISP could provide different).

Now from what I understand, gaming is all to do with your ping rate and not your download rate.

so start a DOS cmd prompt and type:

      ping bbc.co.uk

      what does it return?
