      Do sky throttle connections?

Okay so recently, anytime I try to download or stream anything large my BB reacts by dropping download from around 4mb down to about 500kbps and wont restore itself until I reboot router and this is beginning to be a pain.

I quite frequently use the bbc iplayer and everytime I use it my connection speed drops and as I said - I have to reboot my router every time to get the speed back.

It's only started doing this in the past few months, is this a known thing sky have put in place or shall I give them an angry phone call?

The only package that Sky are known to throttle is Sky Connect. Your profile says Mid, so it would lead me to guess its another issue.

      Re: Do sky throttle connections?

Think you need to discount all else before an (angry?) phone call.

Don't forget things like iPlayer are P2P software which is reliant on others uploading to you so you are dependent on loads of factors.

      Are you wired/wireless.

I always use the following file as my standard test of how good my downloading is:

Download details: Flight Simulator X Trial Version

Download this file and let itr run for a min or 2 before it settles. I have just done that now and I get a speed of 645KB (5160Kb for my sync rate of 6048Kb). You can expect to DL at about 85% of your sync rate (so 6048*.85 = 5140, so you can see my connection is not throttled).
