Frequent disconnects, please advise (includes stats)

      Hello

I am getting a lot of disconnects from sky, and sometimes the router actually reboots, and I lose wireless network as well as internet

These are my stats, I think my noise margin is possibly an error...
The upstream margin is pretty solid at 7, the downstream fluctuates from 2 to 0 over the course of several seconds.

      Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am going to try the test socket now, the router is in the main socket currently.

You have serious noise problems. Try it in the Test socket as you suggest. An improvement in your noise margin will indicate dodgy internal wiring. If the router has been rebooted at a quiet time it may have negotiated a speed it cannot sustain.

these are the test socket stats after being left on overnight. The speed is indeed lower, but the router reboots itself in the other socket very often
Will see how the test socket weathers the evening, it normally gets worst around 7pm til 2am.

If it is better... can I leave it in the test socket?

There is nothing to stop you leaving it in the test socket, but any extensions attached to the faceplate will not work. It would be much better if you bought an ADSL Nation faceplate. This isolates the internal wiring and gives you a straight through connection for the ADSL. They are very easy to fit.

You have a nice high noise margin which should get you through the noisy line period without dropping. You may find that booting during a quiet period (around mid-day) will get your speed back up a bit, but it may cause your line to loose it's stability.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will read up on the faceplate cheers!
I can live with lower speed and higher stability, the disconnects had brought me to the brink of despair!

      Thanks again!

Booting when the margin is low should reconnect you with a margin of 6-7 dbs, once again reducing your speed. If it does not drop and reconnect itself, I would leave it. Some routers can go right down to almost 0dbs before disconnecting.
