You are possibly on DLM which I thought had finished, the 796 seems to show it.

However the 6143 suggest that you are synching at 6.1mb so possibly either download site is busy or you have something using the bandwidth off your pc.

Re: can anyone help with my stats / drop out issues please?

this is the results I get back from the speed tester

We have detected that your ISP is Sky - Your current download speed is 3256Kbps, and your current upload speed is 280Kbps.

on another tester got 4.8mb download and 269 upload.

      just cracked 5 mb http://www.speedtest.net/result/323987945.png

better result but stiil nowhere near 6 mb

I have tried a few different sites and get about the same result.

on nntp / news my speeds are aroud 500 mbs, which seems much slower than I used to get.

Is the auto re-training any good or should I be making a call to sky support?
do you think I have been capped or am I missing something?

      Thanks

Are you using a Sky router? If so what one?

DLM has had this line, and is still on adsl2+...prob best to call CST and get Sky to adjust the line profile...

Re: can anyone help with my stats / drop out issues please?

No-one so far has asked the obvious question re the low throughput compared to sync, so I will.

Is this a wireless connection? You've managed to get 5meg once but a lot less other times. Other than overloaded test servers as suggested by Newsreader, wireless issues would be the next most likely cause of varying throughput.

BTW, you'll never get 6meg with a sync of 6143kbps due to TCP/IP overheads. 5meg would be spot on.

If a Sky router is not being used, he/she will get short shift from Sky support. The stats shown in the first post don't look like they come from a Sky router.

oh dear having had areply from sky support over e-mail.
the line has moved from adsl+2 yesterday to gdmt

      Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A

      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 800 / 4,448

      Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 1.64 / 9.67

      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.0 / 18.0

      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 25.5 / 42.0

      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.0 / 15.5

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / GSPN

The router on at the moment is my speedtouch 716 wl with the wireless disabled. but the speed tests have been done on a laptop over awireless connection. So I understan the feedback there.

Re: can anyone help with my stats / drop out issues please?

Why not try your Sky router, you may find you get a better result? Your present stats seem to indicate that your download has been capped, you should be able to get a another couple of Mbs+. I don't really know why you are showing 800 upload. Might be some hangover from DLM.

Re: can anyone help with my stats / drop out issues please?

I managed to persuade sky to move me back to the first settings. I also purchased a adsl face plate filter and installed it on the only extension.

      speed test

      My stats now show:-

      Link Information

      Uptime: 0 days, 10:55:52

      Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A

      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 766 / 6,825

      Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 1.50 / 3.21

      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 1.0

      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.5 / 45.0

      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12.0 / 11.0

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / GSPN

      Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

      Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 4 / 0

      Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

      Loss of Link (Remote): 0

      Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 212 / 0

      FEC Errors (Up/Down): 3 / 20,749

      CRC Errors (Up/Down): 1 / 22

      HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 20

Although I had a drop out about 10 hours ago, which is very strange.
I will continue to monitor. Speeds are fantastic in the 700-800 range for downloads.

just need stability now and I'll be happy.
