I think you have been lied to about your line being regraded. Phone them again and make it clear that you are not at all happy. You may be told that BT have been asked to regrade the line and it will take 3 to 5 days. I think this may be what CST meant when they said it had been done. It is the sort of thing that is never done immediately.

I repeat my advice to reboot your router.

      Re: my sky broadband problems

As has been said you are on Sky Connect, which is the Sky name for ADSLMax. This is why you are having problems. BT have put you on the wrong product and you will see no improvement until you are moved to the correct one.

Sky may have a date for enabling your exchange in which case you will being charged 5 a month. If they do not, you will be charged 17 a month. If you are not aware of this you should find out immediately. To be honest, if I were in your shoes with Sky charging 17 a month without advising you. I would tell them I want to cancel immediately. Much better deals are available from other suppliers. BE and Carphone on your exchange can do much better and probably without the hassle. Get on it immediately, the longer you delay sorting it out, the harder it will be to get out of the contract. If they are only charging you 5 you would be as well to stick it out. Check your account in your MySky page.

You are on the wrong package at BT's end, give sky a call and let them know about this.

Ok, now that you are on the right package we can start.

Are you connected to the master socket we could do with your stats from the test socket that is behind the faceplate.

Are you connected via wireless, if so this may be a problem, can you connect via wires and try your speed again?

      Re: my sky broadband problems

Ok much better sync at the test socket so it looks like you have internal wiring issues there. You could do with fitting a filtered faceplate and putting the router as close to it as you can.

I think your poor speeds are down to your wireless link, have you tried changing yor channel, start at 13 and work down. I would advise binning the wireless all together, it really is a poor way to connect and can cause problems that are very hard to trace.

Try Homeplugs if you cannot run cables (I'm going to copy and paste this)

      Re: my sky broadband problems

Your connection is now in it's training period. This will last for at least ten days until your connection stabilises. I would advise you to read the link in post #6 and follow the instructions there to manage your connection during the training period. I should mention that another member of the forum is giving conflicting information. It is up to you whether you follow his unsupported advice or that of an ISP who has used ADSLMax for years and rates very highly on the table for member support. Connect is the Sky name for ADSLMax.

If you wish you can do an official BT speedtest, follow these instructions. Go to BT Speedtest enter your phone number then your ADSL username. This will do an official BT speed test and show your present profile. Your ADSL username is <the LAN MAC number of your router, no colons, followed by> @skydsl You can also obtain this from the router by using one of the utilities available on the forum.
