Oh , as for the wires, you don't have to strip them do you? Just push them back into that slit / crevice?

nope, no stripping. Don't force them in with a screwdriver tho, use an IDC tool.

Re: Is the speed I am getting reasonable?

This is interesting. I plugged it into the master socket normally with the faceplate on and I get this :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9155 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 32 db 8.5 db
Noise Margin 7 db 9 db

      Almost 4Mbs difference!

try the test socket again please. Last time your NM was 4db in the test socket and is now 7db in the main socket. Try the test socket again and repost full stats.

Now you have found the master, and it is a NTE-5, if you can connect your router to it, get a filter faceplate and give yourself that "test socket performance"

      Im not convinced yet.

In the test socket they got 13Mb but with a 4db NM
In the main socket they get 10Mb with a 7db NM

we're not yet comparing apples with apples which is why I would like to see another in the test socket.

Re: Is the speed I am getting reasonable?

and NM goes back to 4db and as such the sync goes up.

Now I'm lost.... anyone..... why is the NM in the TEST socket synching at 4db instead of the target 6.9db?

      Is 'Saturday' around?

Re: Is the speed I am getting reasonable?

well when you reboot the router, it should sync with a Noise Margin of 6.9db.

The lower the NM the more unstable the conncection.

The exchange/router determins the target NM sync rate so your router should always sync with a NM of 6.9 whenever you reboot.

Are you rebootung your router (powering off and on) when you switch between master and test socket? If not can you please and re-post both sets of stats.
