      Do Sky have a news server. If not what do you all use.

      nope no newsserver from sky.

      Astraweb do PAYG service.

      thats fine if you want just text newsgroups. If you do, then you cant beat Google Groups IMO.

      Im guessing the OP wants binary newsgroups tho. Of course downloading/uploading to binary groups can land you in trouble, so ensure you aren't breaching any copyright!

      I use Giganews. Usenet Newsgroups Service, News Servers, Usenet Access - Giganews. They have a European as well as a transatlantic server.

      dflour69: Your really should ocmpare the costs of giganews to astraweb, you might be able to make a hefty saving.

      astraweb have europe server, SSL connections - (20 of) and is currently up to 170 days retention.

      Fair enough giganews is like 225 days rentention, but the cost is very much cheaper on astraweb.
