UPDATE:
Got thru to CST. ADSL Nation Faceplate etc.
They said it sounds like my face plate or wiring is at fault.
So off I went to look for a philips screwdriver. And when I gently took off the lower plate I found the '5' wired just popped out of it's place, where as '2' was pinned in.
Push'd '5' back in until it refused to pop out.
In the meantime I tried a test socket router check. 16meg. above 10db for noise in both directions and stable.
Put faceplate back on, and tested router stats with the tighter wiring.
Now I'm back up to 16meg, 700+ upstream. 12-14db down and up noise margin....my attenuation actually went down by 1db from 19 to 18db. Weird.
It really seems like my '5' wire was just lingering in place...vibrating loosely even. Not quite in full contact with it's grip.
Of course I drove my non PC other half to dispair...cos he thought I was going to break it. I've down me research in here.
Only thing stopping me was finding a screwdriver!!!
