best leave it alone as having it below 8 is against procedure so you'll either get someone in trouble or put up with not quite so fast pings...

Hehe it was a kind lady from Tier 3 (called somthing different now) that done it. dramatically reduced my ping + for some wierd reason i got a more stable connection than i used to.

anyway im asking how easy it is to change over to MAX. it is a flick of a switch or a few days downtime. because i use my internet daily for a lot of important stuff

You should have no downtime, except maybe a reboot, you might not even need that. As you say, it is just like the flick of a switch. One minute you are on Mid, the next on Max, although adjustments may have to be made to keep your line stable.

I did just this a couple of months ago, they told me it could take 24 hours but it basically happened the second I put the phone down. Logged onto the router and I have the full upload from the MAX service.

I've not got any extra speed (too far from the exchange) but I wanted no-limit downloads and the extra upload has helped my xbox, can actually hear some conversation now.

The only downside I've since learned is that I have now entered into another 12 month contract for the broadband with this upgrade.
Post Sky DLM and after some cowboy contracters and BT ruined my line quality (was 6mb pre DLM):
