      Re: At my wits end!

keep the router in the test socket , and call Sky

make sure you tell them its in test socket and you have
tried a diffrent microfilter, that way you can go to CST on
      the 1 call.

      Re: At my wits end!

I have just thought you know when you take the lid of the bt box none of the coloured wires are connected to anything would that make any differene or are they phased out now?

Edit: Lol when I put the crappy connecter that sky tv is connected to in to my socket and then but the filter in that my speed has gone down to about 130kbps download. Wow sky thanks again I'm meant to keep it in for contract reasons but they can go to hell.

At least it won't disconnect on that crap speed!!!!!!!

      Re: At my wits end!

There must be at least 2 wires connected or your phone would not work at all! These should be the blue/white/blue wires, none of the others are required when you are using ADSL filters.

The extension supplied by Sky TV fitters is a splitter, not a filter, this must be plugged into a filter, then the filter plugged into the phone socket. Do not under any circumstances use the extension supplied by Sky to connect your router. Everything plugged into the phone circuit must pass through a filter.

      Re: At my wits end!

To clarify, the first thing to be plugged into the BT socket is the filter, then you connect the router and the spliiter to the seperate ports

      Re: At my wits end!

Ive just changed the filter back to the ones BT supplied me last year and the one from sky only gets me half the speed and the BT filter is giving me max speed I can get. I can see the wires in the socket but are not connected to the front of the lid where they are supposed to be and my line is working.
I had a long talk with someone last year on a different forum and he did not believe me until I posted pictures.

Do you think it is that that is affecting the line or is the frond of the socket being re routed to the exchange one.
I will try and post pictures if requested...

I have the master socket with like 4 or 5 2 colour wires (example: blue and white, orange and white ect.).

      Re: At my wits end!

Do you have extensions hardwired to the socket, ie not the plug in type? When you remove the front plate of the Master socket, do the extensions still have dial tone?

If you do not have extensions connected directly to the Master socket, then there will be no wires connected to the faceplate.

Posting photos would be a good idea

      Re: At my wits end!

You have the Master socket, say in the hall, and from it wires are fed to other outlet boxes in the bedrooms, kitchen, lounge etc. These can be hardwired into the master socket or be the DIY plug in type which plug into the master socket and have an outlet box on the other end which can be placed where you want it. Available from places like B&Q.
