      Has my line been capped?

      I moved into a new house 18 months ago and have had Sky broadband MAX since I moved in. Initially the download speeds were 2.5Mb + and the upload was 712kb. However I would lose connection every 4 hours or so and if the router was left on I would have to reboot to get a connection.

      In may this year my line speed was reduced to 1.5Mb download and 416kb upload but the connection seemed to be much more stable then previously.

      Now the speed has reduced again 800Kb download and 416 upload and will not budge from this figure. I have raised calls with Sky but they come back and say that everything is OK.

      Router stats are below:

      I wonder if anyone can help me as I have tried to get this sorted 3 times now but Sky say everything is OK.

      Yes, your connection is capped. With an attenuation of 62db your line length is nearing the limit for any ADSL connection let alone a stable one. If the line is also in poor condition then capping may be the only way to get it stable.

      You may be able to improve your line condition. See the cabling and faceplate help forum for info.
