Re: BT Home Hub and Sky BB

      Hi All

I have flashed the BT Hub using this step by step guide :
      http://www.josephn.net/unlocking_bt_home_hub

But once I come to the bit where it says enter username and password it does not let me connect?

I used tyhe sky username generator that I found on these forums and its actually the MAC address on the bottom of my Sagem f@st 2504 with @skydsl and the password it generates.

if anyone can help me to get my username and password to login would be much appriecated.

      Thansk as always

      Solved.....

Here are the settings that you need after you get to the speedtouch site

Click on Speedtouch on the blue menu on the left.
Click on the "Set Up" link under 'Pick a task...'
Click the "Next" button on the popup window
Select Routed PPP then click "Next"
Select 0.38 from the list for VPI/VCI
Select PPP over ATM (PPPoA) for 'Connection Type'
NB. Only if you're on AOL, choose PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE).
Enter the username and password for your ISP broadband login. Click "Next"
I think it is self-explanatory from that point on. That basically means that you've got Internet

      Hope this helps

      Much appreciated

V2 Hubs will work on any ISP straight out of the box. They have the facility to enter your own username and password. No need to flash or bugger them about in any way.
I tried it briefly when I first joined Sky from BT!
However, they have implemented their own version of draft 'n' and I don't believe anyone has got them to work above 130mbps. The 300mbps level is not achieveable because BT have implemented only 2 aerials inside the Hub!

Otherwise, the V2 is a good reliable piece of kit. Much much better than the earlier Hubs! Mine rarely had to resync and it maintained a good speed! The range of the 'n' wifi is better than earlier versions too!

Stay away from Netgear, they have abysmal technical support, the worse I have ever seen.

That's not a good enough reason to me. Just because you have had support problems doesn't mean that their products are bad.
Netgear make good products! I have a number of them, one mission critical, and have never needed to contact Netgear Support!

Maybe you should try their Support Forums?

The converse of what you are saying is "Buy xyz because their support is good", but the product might be crap!

The support forums are full of posts how bad Netgear support is, and this is a Forum that has each post moderated beofre it's allowed to be seen and very little actual help going on there.

To be honest I do not care how good Netgear products are after their horrible tech support, I would rather go with a worse built product and good support as at least they would try and sort out any problems.

Re: BT Home Hub and Sky BB

      Hi,

Just found this thread, not sure how old it is.

I have the Sagem Sky router and found this page to get my username and password: Sky Broadband Username and Password | Philip Nicosia

I got my username and password and then switched to my BT home hub V2 as I want the internet lockout stuff for my kids. My dad had this router and was not using it.

When you turn it on, it is great tells you there is a problem and easily takes you through adding username and password for non BT users - however it does not work.

says that the router will not accept this username or password or the username/password is wrong.

Anyone actually managed to get this to work rather than just the theory?
