      Slower Speeds Today

      Hi
I am on Connect and I normally get a connection rate of 5400+ but I noticed my dowloads and pages were loading slower so checked my router today and the speed was down to 4200 so I rebooted and it went down to 3900 and I kept on rebooting a few times and it wont go any faster. Have I been capped?

      These are my current stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4288 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 25.5 db
Noise Margin 12.3 db 18.0 db

well your slightly high noise margin does suggest a cap..

you can't be capped on Connect...the line just adjusts in real time...my line varies from 4.5Mbps-6Mbps depending on time of day...

try to reboot it and see what happens - BT usually keep a high SNR to keep a line stable...

      Re: Slower Speeds Today

      does it actually matter?

      mine at the moment...

Connection Speed 5472 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 46 db 12 db
Noise Margin 9 db 24 db

but sometime I'll sync over 6Mbps, sometimes as low as 4.5Mbps...depends on the line/weather/time of day...

      Re: Slower Speeds Today

i think it's just Connect being a bit silly...my speeds have gone a bit iffy of late but i've had awful weather so just put it down to that...

what is your IP profile HERE

enter you phone number, and when it asks enter your username as routermac@skydsl, where routermac is the mac on the bottom of your router...might take a few times to get it to work...

      Re: Slower Speeds Today

Sky will do nothing as the line is correct for attenuation...

did you know that a line change can take 3 days to adjust?

also, try downloading a file from HERE - do the large or medium...

if the transfer rate is around 450-500KB/sec then there's nothing wrong...mine currently goes around 450-470KB/sec...
