      Same connection drop problems

      High there,

I have the black netgear router and am getting intermitant connection failures. I've plugged into the master socket ,disabled upnp and got the following results:

I was hoping someone could advise me, I have reboted the router several times but to no avail - the NR seems incredibly low.

      Re: Same connection drop problems

      Defiantly a few problems there.

Could you please try your test socket and post some comparison stats from there?

      Re: Same connection drop problems

Sorry for not getting back - I've been away on holiday and sort of hoped everything would be better when I got back

The stats I posted are from the test socket as described - since checking the forums it seemed that posting straight from the test socket would be the best idea.

Generally I never get more than 3-4db noise margin

I have tried rebooting the router as described and I've turned th uPnP off too - really not sure what to do next.

      Re: Same connection drop problems

Are you on eternet or wireless and when you say drop connection do you mean you are losing sync on the router (amber or no internet light) or just dropping connection from router to pc?
If its dropping sync on the test socket try changing the filter, if it keeps doing it call sky tech support and go through troubleshooting for intermittant connection (stay in the test socket for this) and it will go up to CST.

      Re: Same connection drop problems

I'm on wireless - It's quite odd - most of the time it's just losing connection to the internet (amber light), but then sometimes I lose connection to the hub (when I try and access the hub on 192.168.0.1 I get the no response page even though my system tray says that I'm connected to the netwrok and wireless strength is good or excellent).

I've just moved house and was on Orange at the last place - I have no way of telling if this is the router, the house or the exchange?

I don't really download anything, just play EVE online and email/browse ect so I'll happily accept a lower speed - I'm on the mid package, but to be honest 2mb stable would be plenty for my needs.

I've noticed that this problem is really common with sky - forgive me being stupid but is it just sky or would I have the same problems with other BB providers?

      Re: Same connection drop problems

First thing to check would be if it happens on ethernet, then I would look at how many wireless networks there are around you in case its a channel clash somewhere.
