Well that's your choice of course but why let them get away with a line fault that is not only causing your ADSL to suffer but your voice calls too?

Ring them again and insist that you speak to a supervisor, get his name tell him that you are going to write a letter of complaint, what harm can it do?

You are letting them off the hook way too easy.

I don't know you to convince you that if there is a fault on the line and you have proved this by using the Test socket, then your phone provider must fix it free of charge. If they say they are going to charge, ask what you are paying them for. They took the line from BT who had the expense of installing it and appear to want to charge rental for doing nothing. Tell them you will be moving your rental and calls back to BT immediately unless they agree to fix your line. In the meantime make enquires at BT about moving your phone supply back to them. If So'ern say anything about contracts, tell them they have already broken it by refusing to give you an acceptable supply.

If you plugged a standard phone in and got the same results then its not the cordless phone causing the issue. Especially if you then plug that phone into another line and it works perfectly. Your line provider is taking the P and you really should kick off at them for not providing the service you are paying them for. Once your line is fixed your BB experience will be a lot better.

Make sure you let him hear the noise on your phone. You may be lucky and get one (like our Brian) who will also help with your broadband. I hope he finds something and fixes it, good luck
