      what is Emergency 2 department

Hi all, 1st sorry for starting a new thread,, but I am *****ed off. I was wondering what the Emergency 2 department is. As to try and sort my speed out, they said they were escalating the issue with Emergency 2 and that they would phone me back either Tuesday or Wednesday. So I booked time off work for Tuesday and Wednesday and they still haven't got back to me.

I think that they are now running DLM on my line, as my stats are as below:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4603 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 41 db 11 db
Noise Margin 10 db 19 db

I dont think alot of sky customer service at the moment, but the unfortunately thing is that I am tied until october unless I pay the rest of the contract.

All along sky have only ever wanted to capped me by 4 meg, and arent interested in the fact that I was getting the 8198 in an extension and not the master socket. As even plugged in the master socket I was 2 meg down and no throughput faster than 15 kb/s, so a fault somewhere with sky as they say my line is fine, but I have a very, very high error rate.

So dont know what to do now.

by the sound of it, there may be a problem with your internal telephone wiring.
each propery is different, so am unable to comment specifically on yours.
give a description of how things are wired and what sync speed you get at each, it may be possible to point you in the right direction and get an engineer out to diagnose it.

I don't think you are doing yourself a favour starting another thread. It makes it difficult for anyone to help you and just leads to repeated advice. From what you posted previously I think your main problem was that you were unable to sync at you full speed in the evenings. Everybody suffers from this, maybe not to the extent that you do, but it is a fact of life that broadband slows down when the lines are busy. There is little that Sky or anybody else can do about it.

If DLM is training on your line, you are just going to have to stay with for the 10-20 days it takes to run. You never know, yours might just be one of the lines that benefits from it. Remember to keep your router switched on during the period, as switching off can have a bad effect on the training.
