      Re: Slow speeds

After a two and a half hour battle with the people at Sky I finally have better speeds

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2976 kbps 320 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 9 db 13 db

First two people I spoke to didnt seem to know anything, they kept insisting that changing the microfilter would solve the problem even though I told them I had already tried that. The second guy even said to me that it was nothing to do with them and it was BT's fault for the slow speeds! Finally got put through to an Irish guy who straight away said "wow that line is noisey, let me fix that for you" and all of a sudden the noise I talked about in my earlier post had gone He then did some stuff at his end and everything is sorted, he said my upload should go up to 416kb after a couple of days so I'll take his word for it

Thanks for all your help guys, glad I found this forum otherwise I'd still be stuck with my rubbish speeds

Sorry to bother you all again

My upload speed seems to be going down rather than up like I was told, am I going to have to phone them up again? Or will it go back up in time?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2976 kbps 256 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 7 db 4 db

      Re: Slow speeds

I'll give it a few days and see what happens

Another problem I'm having is online gaming, basically I'm a big lag king. Even though my upload is dropping to 256kb surely that is plenty to play online, any idea why its lagging so bad?
