      Re: Max 512KB line speed

If you have a newer NTE-5 Master any extensions should be connected to the faceplate, not to the A-B terminals of the backplate. Until such time as your line is enabled for broadband, it would be better to leave the faceplate off completely and work with the Test socket*. This will ensure that any tests done will not be effected by internal wiring and will give the best possible result.

The blue/white wire of the extension should go to terminal 2 and the white/blue wire to terminal 5 on the faceplate of the Master socket. No other connections are necessary.

*This is the socket behind the Master faceplate which connects directly to the incoming line.

Ok I opened up the master socket and found a small booklet explaining exactly the above, I have attached as described and all the extensions are working.

Now I am hoping if the noise level go down and line get settled ok.

Thanks guys for the help so far.KA

Still no luck. Line attenuation is still high.

Has the OP even ordered Sky BB Yet?

if not just order it and see if they will provide it
and if it doesn't work correctly then cancel it
inside the cooling off period which is 8 days from
      your line activation date

      And then move house

      Re: Max 512KB line speed

still no joy and i am getting inpatient.

If i were to get a basic (i.e. free ) bb from sky to see the actual speed* over few days and if it is accecptable would i be able to upgrade to max straight away or have to wait for end to contract term?

      * i have noticed the line test of my parents phone say that it can support upto 2 MB but the BB is connected at 4MB

This is quite normal, nearly everyone finds that the estimated speed is very low compared to what they get.

It is probably a good idea opting for the free package, upgrading is only a phone call away at any time. Downgrading is a different matter, unless your speed was very low, under 512kbps, you have to wait out the contract.

Thought he had posted by mistake and meant oops
