Shouldn't happen if filters are correctly placed and there are no technical issues with the connections/ line.

First check/change ALL filters. Try a different phone as well, try your test socket.

      Re: Phone Call disconnecting router

Hi I had this problem too when a call came through or the phone was picked up it reset the sync speed of the router.

Bottom line is try all the above suggestions but i think its definitely the wiring leading up to the main bt box. Mine was corroded as it was in the bathroom and over the years moisture seeped in. It was an easy fix but the BT guy wanted to charge for it, but as BT owns all the wire up to the box, its their responsibility.

Also listen to your line if there are lots of crackles and static in the background its the wiring. Be persistant as BT's tests are basicly if you can hear the other person, the lines ok. While this works for voice the internet needs a clean line.

I recommend Routerstat for monitoring your connection as it charts the speeds and shows the drops very clearly in a graph.

      Re: Phone Call disconnecting router

Just to add i had this problem. Sky were not help at all. I steped in, BT came round a few days after calling and week later they narrowed it down to dodgy pairs - they changed the pairs all the way up to the Green Box IIRC then made a new connection from there. My connection has been solid ever since.

      Re: Phone Call disconnecting router

Well i had the same problem for 4 months now. Had 5 BT engineers out...3 new master sockets, 5 filters, new joints, new cable to house. New pair from further up road, new pair from excahnge to junction box up the road, and three different routers....... You know what the problem was all along....? the netgear router they kept sending me. I asked for a sagem this time and as soon as i plugged that in all my problems went away,. Bottom line, the Netgear routers seem rubbish.

Nice sweeping statement there, got a Netgear here and no issues at all.

      Re: Phone Call disconnecting router

It's been known to happen unfortunately, there have been calls where a customer has received a replacement router only to plug it in and watch it go bang or not work fullstop. Never a good call to get that one.
