should i be syncing at 5 meg with sky bearing in mind i been with sky bb for like 4 days ,should have been on sky bb 2 and a half weeks ago but they seem to have forgotten to tell me that they sent the router to me and the delivery people apparantly found no one at home and never left a deliver note either so i never knew that it was sent until i phoned them about it 6 days ago.
Here are the stats from sagem router.

Connection Speed 5184 kbps 768 kbps

You should be syncing at a much higher speed than that, try plugging into the test socket to see if that improves your speeds. If it does, you need to sort out your internal wiring. If it doesn't, you need to call tech support and go through the scripted troubleshooting for a slow connection until you get put through to the "real" support agents who will sort it out for you.

I would call Sky and go through troubleshooting for speed. They will then pass it to CST, just make sure you are on the main or test socket, filters are correct and that no extension leads are in plate. Your line according to those stats should give you a lot more speed.

Re: If i was syncing at 15 meg with bulldog

quick update guys,i took my laptop and router to the master socket and then plugged it in minus all phone line etc and i synced at

      DownStream Connection Speed 8096
      UpStream Connection Speed 768

then took off faceplate and put it on test socket and i got the same result,so methinks they have me on 8 meg profile even though they say i am on 16 meg profile.

ok what i did then was put faceplate back on and then put just my phone line and then the router in minus the wire for the skybox and voila i still get 8megs ,so it seems putting the sky box wire to the mix decreases my speeds by 3 megs.

so now this is my stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.0 db 14.0 db
Noise Margin 14.2 db 14.0 db

i will have to email them and hope they sort it out ...

Your line could benefit from ADSL2+ it seems your on G.DMT - that would explain the 8096 downstream and 768 up.

Do you have the Sky box connected through a filter? Note that the 'box' on the end of the Sky extension is not a filter, as some think, it is purely a line splitter. You must plug the filter into the socket first, then the Sky box. These boxes cause more problems than phones, unless you have multi room, if your 12 months is up, better to leave it unplugged until you need it.
