I am trying to set up a reading from a news server, which is giganews. I have tried to set it up, but I'm having problems with it. According to giganews, they say that I need to find out if there is a secure ssl connection open both ways to port 563.
I contacted sky, and both level one and two had no idea what I was talking about, even though I read out the e-mail sent to me from giganews, explaining what they were asking. Level 2 tech told me there was no way they could check, as they didnt have the programs to do so, I had to contact microsoft, to get the problem sorted, even when I told them that giganews stated that some isp's block port 563.
Any idea how I can find out if sky block port 563, and if they do, is there any way I can get it unblocked so i can connect to giganews.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Port Blocking....
Not sure why you feel the need to run a secure Giganews connection (NNTP over SSL) as Sky don't throttle LLU connections but I suspect the problem is that your firewall is blocking it or some similar problem i.e. nothing to do with Sky
