Right click the middle of your desktop and select new and then shortcut and then when the new shortcut box pops up click browse and locate the thing that you want to make the shortcut for and then click next give it a name and then click finish.

Is it still there in the task bar ? If so just right click it and select "send to" then "desktop (create shortcut)"

The link created by the CD just invokes IE and points it at a certain page, all you need in reality is a link to IE on the desktop or a shortcut pointing to a web address

Unfortunately, there are many who have never used the internet before and don't have your expertise, so ask seemingly 'ridiculous' questions. Don't put them down for it. As a matter of interest, how many T1 Techs are able to answer this query? Unless it is on the script there will not be many.

this is not a broadband technical issue so y would ppl call their isp and expect them to know y the desktop icon disapeared? some ppl have no common sense, wally 10 has the right idea a fourm site that has nothing to do with his isp....

      try this wally10
Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable

much better than ie and looks cooler too.

The OP obviously used the Sky CD to set up his connection. Why should anyone in the same position not phone Sky if the icon disappears. As far as they are concerned Sky put it there, so they should know how to get it back.

Exactly. Unfortunately Sky deemed it necessary to create a link on the desktop to a site that they then closed. This obviously caused issues and when the link itself then goes missing (due I expect to a lot of people not realising they may have desktop clean up after 30 days set up) the Eu is entitled to call Sky to ask what is going on if the EU is not technically savvy enough to realise what has happened. Can't blame the EU in this case but happily someone here is not quite correct in his belief that 95% of T1 agents are that dumb they would put this through to CST.
