As others have said long extenstions will kill the broadband signal.

Can you try plugging your router into your master socket using a mains extension to power it. Check if the internet light (the one that looks like a candle) flashes orange (searching for a broadband signal ), solid orange (found broadband ) solid green (logged into Sky). Once you have established this works you can then try one of the extnsion wiring solutions others have suggested or in the link above.
      Trying this now!!

      Re: Confused!!

well thanks for your advice everybody but it looks like i can't take any of it because my mum's partner won't let me do anything more because he's fed up of putting the cables under the carpet, so it looks like i need to cope with a slow connection so basically he will be paying for something we aren't getting so bugger him, i'd swear if i was allowed but i don't want to get myself banned or anything :\

I'll press the thanks button on everyone who replied for trying

      thank you <3

OK one more thing to help, wireless or use power line plugs, if you are unable to rip stuff up.

      Re: Confused!!

hi mate if ur connection wired is so bad [prob cheap phone line extension cable and not allowed any more cabling why not try wireless [it may be better in your case [no good for gaming ]but general surfing could be better than dodgy phone extensions
plug ur router into master socket and filter then try ur wireless connection [if ur pc not wireless then a dongle is about 10-15 quid
