I'm on 8mb broadband and downloading at 35kb/s max?!

Hi I switched over about 2 months ago, and was not happy from the off-set, I previously had 2mb broadband and was looking at a download speed of around 60-200kb/s (normally. it could go higher)

And since I have switched over I can't go over 30-35k/bs with anything or any download. I'v just let it be thinking the problem might solve itself until now, and i'v rang sky twice about it and here is what I got -

      - "line seems fine"

I did as one advisor told me and switched my sockets but from this I got nothing, mainly due to the fact I think that socket is dead.

      Here is a few facts if anyone can help -;

      # I connect wirelessly (I tried the Ethernet as well and it was no better)

      # My house has two sockets one in where my front door is which sky called the master socket but i'm 90% sure is dead and has been for years. The one my phone and router is in is in a conservatory and it has two pannels.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 352 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 23.7 db 14.0 db

I know little to nothing about the words exchange and that info above. So please could someone help i'm running out of options but switching?

(Also I don't know the make of my router. it's the black one with dots on it?)

I'm not a sky user yet, but possibly you are subject to DLM

Momentum, I know how you feel. I have exactly the same problems as you do (with the speeds but mine is like 3KB/s faster ) and have been having these problems for the last 16 days.

Do you live in East London, by any chance? If so, you might want to read this:

There are sky employees here; they may be able to help you. I don't find sky's customer support helpful - I've contacted them 4 times about this issue.

Thanks for the reply and I had a look at that thread.

From what I can see this very well may be what is happening.

Only thing is I NEVER have to restart my router? My net is always on but running slow.

So can anyone see what' else it could be or if it is DLM, how do I get it off?

Nah I don't live in East London the Midland's infact.

To be honest I think the CST can vary, I get some people on it who don't help at all and others who seem to know what there on about.

DLM is compulsory unfortunately... u have to go through it for atleast 10 days... and it can take up to 20 days

you can get cst to rase your speeds but i would just sit back and wait for 20 days...

My speed has been the same since I transferred a few months ago? I ALWAY's download at 30/35kps does this mean I am on DLM all the time?

Phone Sky support, there is no way out of it. I am pretty sure no one here can help with your problem. Your very high noise margin indicates that you are capped at 352kbps, which may be due to DLM, but as you say it has been like that for months I doubt it. Only calling Sky and going through the procedure will get your problem fixed. Phone and complain of very slow speeds. I should add that with your very high attenuation you are unlikely to get much more than 2.5-3Mbs
