      Dropping Connection

      This is doing my head in !! Computer keeps dropping , orange light comes on , but if I unplug my house phone , take it in to computer room , plug it into phone line there , remove it ,take it back , plug it in then everything starts working again !!!!!!!

      How many sockets in use, are you on the main socket, any extension leads and where have you got fitlers plugged in? Also do you have Sky tv?

      Yes I have Sky TV but that is plugged into another socket , Computer is on an extension , filters on every socket , only started happening a couple of days ago , nothing was changed , The computer is running XP the laptop Vista if that makes a difference

      Unplug everything from the line, plug filter into main socket (test socket if you have one) and plug router into the filter. Power router up, leave it about 30 mins and post a set of stats (Attenuation, SNR etc) and then plug phone into filter and see if anything changes.
      It could just be one of the filters has broken or degraded or it may be a fault on the line (internal or external) but we need stats to see what is happening.
