      Latency

      Hi guys did a quick search but couldnt find anything about this. I've just swapped to sky from orange, with orange i had a 2 meg line with the latency on speedtester.net being between 45-55 approx, now when i test with sky the ping has gone upto 125+ sometimes. So i'm just wondering if this is normal for sky when the line is first activated and if it'll improve. Only reason i'm asking is i'm quite an addict at online gaming.

      exchange is Gorleston EAGOR

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 2656 kbps 384 kbps
      Line Attenuation 60.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 7.8 db 14.0 db

      Hi

      You will need to contact Sky and ask them to lower your Max_Delay.

      Either ring Sky or use the contact form.

      See my sig for the sort of ping you can expect when Sky lower your Max Delays to 8.

      That still seems pretty high to say you have 8bit max delays

      try to ping jolt.co.uk and post your results

      Average ping 23ms to jolt.co.uk.

      Just tell them you need your Max Delays put to 8.
