I have just spoken to Sky who did a test and found that I can get the 16mb but the error rate is too much and the errors are not getting cleared so they are backing up (I think I know what they mean!!!). I am currently capped at 6mb at which point the error rate is apparently acceptable.

richone54 - I think you are right there must be a problem on the line to the exchange. now how I get that fixed I have no idea.

Thanks for your help everyone. Looks like, for the moment, thats all I can get- which is about 1/2 mb more than this morning.

      Thanks dsldude,

@nessa2u - you need to plug a corded phone into the test socket on its own (not through any filters) dial the above number and then its option 2, you should not hear anything, but if you do hear any hiss / crackle / pops you will know for sure

have a go and let us know what you hear

(the next step after, if there is any noise you would phone BT to report and line fault or i think thios can be done through sky, sure others will comment once you have done the test)
