      Question Any Ideas?

Hi all, it`s been a long while. Some may remember my problem from last year, well its still the same. All my neighbours get around 2.5 to 3mbps connection speed, but me 160kbps. We were on connect but have been unbundled to LLU. I thought that would solve the problem. when the router has been off for a while it will sync at around 3mbps then after 15-20mins it dies and re syncs at around 1/2 mbps. I have checker an ADSL checker and it says my line is fixed at 256kbps. Is it possible to get this changed? could this be my problem. I am connected via ethernet cable to the master socket, no extension.

      Thanks in advance.

      Re: Any Ideas?

@skelf 23 - the problem is most likely a database error at BT which has fooled Sky into supplying you with a lower speed than your line is capable of. All ISPs suffer these issues at the hands of BT's ADSL checker which is claiming that your line is only capable of such a low speed.

The checker is saying that you have 75db loss which is pretty serious. Your router is claiming "Attn(dB): 59.0 31.5".

Alternatively, it could be that your individual pair of wires between home and exchange really are poor quality in which case you'll need BT to do their stuff - it'll probably cost you. There are others on the forum who have been through this who can tell their experience if you dig around here.

      Re: Any Ideas?

Ok I have tried to find something to help in this and other forums, but with no joy. BT changed my phoneline from the house to the exchange last September, so I don`t think it`s that. I can`t find anything about database errors, does anyone know how to get them rectified? Would getting sky or bt to reconfigure my line to any good? I really don`t have a clue what to do.

      many thanks, again.
