a quick question if i can?

      hi,newbe here.
ok i wonder if anyone can help me.
just got hooked up with sky connectturns out the exchange if full but was told the connect package was the same as the mid, unknown to me the connect package is non llu and has traffic shaping.
Iam not a heavy user by any means but on occasion i need to download a large file from a newsgroup around 3 gig.on my first attempt since getting connect my speed went from around 235 kbs to 13kbs pretty pathetic in my mind
      this was around 6-8pm.
my point is this,is there a particular time of day(and does anyone know when)i wont get hit as hard by this traffic shaping thing.
I expected a bit of a drop in speed but that is just out of order.
phoned sky and told them to get me on the mid package as soon more space becomes available in my exchange, but that could be ages they say

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I would assume that at peak times somewhere between 6.00 - 10.00 pm weekdays and at weekends traffic shaping is at its optimum. Try downloading early in the day or last thing at night. Connect is a rebranded BT product and until such stage that Sky enable their own equipment, which as they say that could be ages, you will suffer

      thanks for your reply.
i guess i will have to stick it out either until my contract runs out or until they buy more space at my exchange, they say they will contact me when this happens so it looks like i will be contacting THEM from time to time.

thanks for your help postman pat

How much are you paying per month as sometimes that is a clue as to how long it may be?
