      Sudden decrease in sync

My downstream connection has been about 10500 since moving to max about 6 months ago. Last Monday it dropped to about 5400. Occasionaly it will go back up to 10000 for a short while & then drop back.
Other stats unchanged (attenuation, noise etc).
No changes in the house, plugged into an ADSL Nation socket.
Spoke (eventually) to CST. Tried several things but he could see no problem (line etc all ok).
He suggested a modem fault & is sending a new one out.
Is it likley that it is the modem or is he fobbing me off?
I would of thought that if it was the modem then it would work or not, not a little bit if you catch my meaning.

      Re: Sudden decrease in sync

They would have done TS with you, checking setup. Swapped filters, in the test socket. They should have done a line test. Also they would have done a few other things in the background, which I always tell the customer what I am doing.

They are pretty much sending that out so they can take that out of the equation.

If you could post your stats though, we shall try and help on here.

Could be DLM although CST should be aware.

^^^^^^ True, but it is easy to see if the line is going through DLM though, and nothing could have really been done though.

      Re: Sudden decrease in sync

A nice white V1 router arrived 30 mins ago. Set it up & connected at 4200. Back to the Sagem & connected at 9983. Just what is going on!!!!
There must be something wrong but it dosn't appear to be the router!

      Re: Sudden decrease in sync

definately looks like something isn't right - nearly 1Mbps upload!?!?

either someone has played silly games with your line or DLM is in progress...

have you tried your test socket out ofinterest incase the faceplate is faulty?

Yup. Just logged back in & stats now

Everything exactly the same except connection is now 4520!
      Weird
I thought DLM buth assumed that both the initial oper & lad from CST would have identified it straight away.
Oh well what next I ask myself.

      Re: Sudden decrease in sync

It may be DLM, but you may also have another problem. From what I have seen on here anyone suffering from DLM and getting a poor speed has shown a corresponding rise in their noise margin, sometimes a very high rise up into the high 20s. Your stats are not showing that, a drop of over 50% is only showing a very very small rise in your NM. This suggests that something else is afoot
