      Leaving BT coming to MAX

      Hi all

      I am leaving BT which currently i get speeds from 5.5mb to 7.5mb, When i joind up with sky last night i was told i would get up to 16mb i said if i would not achive more than 8mb i would join the mid as i only want speed not unlimted downloads,,, but he assured me more than 8mb, looking at my current BT stats does anyone think i will achive more than 8mb

      Your downstream line attenuation is the limiting factor.
      30 db should see you syncing at around the max of 16meg as long as your line is in good condition ( those stats do show errors but no reference to the amount of time over which they have occured - so its imposible to say exactly )

      I would advise you to go for Mid first. If your stats are good and you are happy, you can upgrade to Max very easily. Going from Max back to Mid is a different proposition, that can only be done after your 12 month contract is up. With your attenuation, you should get more than 8 mb, the attenuation goes up with ADSL2+, but you should get 12=14 mb. A lot depends on your internal wiring.

      11mb atleast with those stats but i'd play it safe and go for mid..

      because u are close to the exchange ..
