Re: Sky resolved my problem and capped me again

      Hi

Your profile says Base, that is only upto 2mb, so I presume an error on your side of the forum profile.

If you are on Max, then it is possible DLM has kicked in. If you are on Mid, the upload speed is correct, but again you may have been DLM'ed.

DLM is a process that can increase the stability on your connection, the snag is, this can take upto 20 days to complete.

Have a read of this for more information.

what do I have to do to get my connection speed back up? I'm on Max. The downstream was 5.6mb until i turned off the modem and went out, now it's 416kbps. What do i have to do to get my connection speed back up to 5.6mb? Will it return to that after 20 days?

Re: Sky resolved my problem and capped me again

If you are on Max and now that got speed, then I would guess that DLM has actually kicked in. From reading the posts on here, this will last upto 20 days. However DLM in some cases tries different speeds etc and so can change every few hours.

It maybe a glitch as your router was off, when it kicked in. I would advise, leave your modem on, keep monitoring it every few hours for the next 24 hours and report back in this thread. It may rise now that the router is physically on. Keep the router switched on as well.

There is no right or wrong way on what to do, no one in reality knows. And Sky seem to think it is OK to do this and keep people in the dark.

Sorry I cannot be more positive for you, but my best advice is leave it for tonight, have some kip and look at it again tomorrow.

edit: Changed your profile to Max.
