Pings after Reset to Factory Settings.

      Hi

Worse, lower is better. Is it the same for every speedtest as it may have been busy at the time. A more accurate way is to ping bbc in a command prompt - ping bbc.co.uk

      Thanks for your replies.
I don't know how to do the ping test. I only noticed it while doing the Speedtest. Can you please explain in layman's terms how to do it.
      Thanks

Yep - those are the average pings to those sites at that point in time.
They are reasonable and if all you do is surf then thats fine.
Lower pings are sought after by online gamers, so if thats not you then I wouldnt worry about them.
I just noticed you live down the road from me - hello fellow red roser

      Hi fellow red roser
I don't play online much on my PC (odd game of Fifa08) but the kids have PS2 xbox360 and now a Wii These are online but hardly disconnect or lag. Will it make any difference to them. I have played the Mario Kart online mostly ok never lags and only the odd disconection.

Re: Pings after Reset to Factory Settings.

Hardcore gamers reckon they can tell the difference between a ping of 45 and 20. Personally I'm pushed to see the difference, but maybe thats coz I'm old and some would say not very good Sky can reduce the max delays which effectively will reduce the ping but this may have the consequence of reducing your sync speed. If you want to pursue this then you need to either ring sky and speak to cst or use the online kana support page.

Re: Pings after Reset to Factory Settings.

I am old as well and like you, don't see a deference as I am also not very good.
Not worth ringing sky up I am quite happy with the way the speed is. On some of the downloads I did re installing things I got 1mb/sec which I am happy with.
Kids haven't complained on the Xbox about lag. On the PS2 sometimes get disconnected but that could be the other people getting disconnected.
Thanks for the help Much appreciated.
      Kev
