    how can you tell

    This is a discussion on how can you tell within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; hey ppl just wondering how can you tell if you have been capped these are my stats atm Port Status ...

      how can you tell

      hey ppl

      just wondering

      how can you tell if you have been capped

      these are my stats atm

      Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 2560 kbps 416 kbps
      Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 5.6 db 15.0 db

      i know my line is capable of more!!

      need to lower my Attenuation somehow!

      but first i wanna know if ive been capped

      Your line is not capped, 2.5 at an attenuation of 63+db is about right.

      just ive seen ppl with 4mb lines with Attenuation of 57- 65

      It is a bit misleading as I think 63.5 is as high as the Sky routers measure. Your actual attenuation could be as high as 70dbs.

      A sync of 2560 puts you just over the 60DB range but under 65.

      I think you missed my point, just because your router says your attenuation is 63.5, does not mean it is so. Maybe 70 was a bit high, but it was meant as an illustration, not a statement of fact.

      attenuation doesnt necessairly relate to speed, but a longer line has more chance of interference

      yeah i get what you mean mate i mean im 3.22 kilometres from the exchange (as the crow flies)
