      Hello all

2 days ago is was on BT Total Broadband option 3 and had a Line Attenuation of 16.0 I am now on Sky and my Line Attenuation is now 33.5!!!! i am only in the region of 862m from the exchange.Nothing else has changed I simply unplugged the Home Hub and just replaced it in the same place with the Sagem router sky sent me.
This morning I checked all wiring in the socket and replaced the filters etc all to no avail.

You are connected to different equipment at the echange and its up to BT how they connect you to it. As the crow flies does not equal true distance from exchange.

^The higher the ATT figure the less speeds.

Plug in to the TEST socket and post your stats. I doubt if different routers would show a difference of over 100%. Maybe BT have given your line a kick just to show that you should not have moved.

Plug your BT router back in and see what it reports the attenuation at now. It will not connect without the username password, but it should give you basic stats. If it also shows an increase then there is a good chance that there may be a fault with the exchange router card or the tie pairs.

The difference between the attenuation speeds, is easily getting the maximum, to struggling for 13-14 mbps.
