Just been activated, are these stats any good

      Hi,

Just got home and booted up my sky router. Here are the stats I'm getting

Now obviously I'm pleased that I'm getting 16MB download speed (and that's through a plug in filter with one 20' wired extention on), but are the other figures for antenuation and noise any good ?

      Regards

      Malcolm

Wow, that's got to worth a tenner a month

you may just want to check your pings, but there should be no real problem and you would be able to get them lowered if they were not good enough

      LOL - too right !

And to think I've waited all this time, and put up with a crappy 4MB connetion costing me 25 with NTL for so long !

Now a convert of ADSL, at least when you're so near to the exchange

Well I've just tried one of the online test and here are the results

I'm happy with that, and at 7pm in the evening

It also makes no difference if I remove the faceplate on the NTE5 box and connect the router direct without any extention.

I would love to have stats like that. You must live next door to the exchange. Although noise margin is close to the max, but you could still get a little more bandwidth maybe 17mbps

Yes you can see the exchange from the front bedroom window

How could I improve the noise margin?. Not that I'm desperate to improve on these figures, but its always nice to go that bit more faster :

You wont get any more speed on this line, because your paying for the 16mbps service and your getting the 16mbps. Have you tried at the test socket? Basically if you get better stats the the test socket then there is slight influence on the noise margin, and you could put a filtered faceplate on.

But really, it looks like your fine and like I said you wont get any more speed on this line with sky on their 16mbps package

Yeah I tried disconnecting the extention and pluging in at the test socket, not much difference on download, but there was a few extra Kb's in uploading, but nothing worth investing in a few face plate.

but did the SNR improve? thats the important thing...

and it is SO worth investing in a filtered faceplate - best thing you'll ever do for your connection...
