      Re: will sky let me out of tv contract

      When you unplug the router / make it disconnect the exchange registers it as if there was interference on the line. All of these disconnections are recorded at sky's end which could explain why they're advising you to cancel. Say for example the person at Sky sees that the router at sky has disconnected 10 times in 1 hour with a sync below 2mbps they will not offer you a fixed 2 mbps service as in their opinion they will think your line isn't stable.

      The best bet is to firstly follow the wiring tutorial at;
      http://dslzoneuk.net/socket.php

      Then locate the master phone socket (VERY IMPORTANT), remove the faceplate and plug the router into the test socket (See http://www.ispreview.co.uk/articles/week/socket.jpg ).

      Then leave the router like that for about a week, do not turn the power off or mess with it and see if it helps at all.

      as you were on freesat before you must have had your own digibox and if you are still using this equipment you should be able to cancel your TV package at short notice. You only get a one year contract when Sky installs a dish and gives you a free digibox. You can't cancel a TV package when you have SkyBB..

      Re: will sky let me out of tv contract

      i did have my own digibox,it was only 3months old
      but when i wanted sky broadband sky said they would have to put a new box and dish in,i thought they could just change the card,we had i old dish and box installed in our daughters house so if sky want this free one back we will have no sky at all,and sky is the only tv we can receive
