This is a discussion on Sky broadband set up within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; mind you, im guessing the difference is nominal and only a comp will be able to tell the difference?...

Not really, improving internal wiring has been known to double the download speed.

so all in, the bottom line is I need to set up the router where the master is effectively, and then run the cables from there..

For the best results, yes and preferably using an ADSLNation faceplate. This will isolate your extensions from the ADSL signal and prevent noise problems from that source, which can badly degrade your connection.
