So that's not a lie then? Try reading your cleverly inserted definition again.

Dictionary.com mate, its there for everyone to read, nothing particularly clever. But bandying the word lie about everyone and everything is a bit excessive, I feel.

What Sky told you was straight off of the page - nothing more, nothing less. Would you rather be told that you can expect anything from 80Kbps to 16Mbps on the Max package? Because that is the fact of the matter with ADSL2+. There is absolutely no guarantee. No ISP can guarantee ADSL because there is simply too much out of their control that can impact the speed delivered, even time of day circumstances can affect the realised speed. That and your own house wiring all contrive against delivering any speed at all.

But if you are going to chuck around the word "lie" like confetti then perhaps, if you're feeling that pedantic about what you've been told, you should then refer Sky to OFCOM and OTELO. After all, there are very specific trading standards statutes that are there to protect you against being lied to. Good luck with that.
It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.

even going with max package doesnt always get you on adsl2+

when i started with skymax i was put on 8mb technical support said BT advised them my line would not handle over 8mb 2.5mb would be my maximum but i was getting 5mb

finally got cst to up me to 16mb to see what would happen if it was unstable i could regrade down to 8mb after removing some 20 year old internal wiring by moving master socket nearer pc i get 13.5 to 14.5 mb tests from speedtest.net
