      My Phone and the orange @ Light

      Hi There,

      past two nights my router has been going green for 20 mins on the @ light but then it will go orange for an hour and then go orange.

      I was also registering speeds of 5.5mb.

      i spoke to a sky helpline last night who made me plug just the router into the test part of the line and the connection was solid strong and perfect.

      the speeds had jumped to 8mb.

      the rep said to just leave it in that line as theres no damage being done, however when i plugged my phone into the splitter the connection went back to the way it was.

      My phone is also very staticy and its like talking to someone in the rainforest, it was like that before i got Sky BB installed.

      Where does the problem lie? The Filter? The Line? or The Phone?

      If its working in the test socket then its not the line. Did you try plugging the phone directly into the test socket to see if the line noise goes away?
      If the noise is only there when the face plate is back on or the "splitter" is in use then that points to problems internally. What splitter are you using? how many tel sockets are in the house and how many are in use?

      An ADSL Nation faceplate would solve most of your problems.

      So last night the internet started dropping out again, i plugged just the phone in and the noise was gone, i plugged both the router and the phone in and the phone was fine.

      10 minutes later the internet dropped out again and i tested the phone and the static noise had returned.

      so now i'm back to square one.

      Have you just tested with the phone?. If there is still static with just the phone maybe worth giving bt a quick call to get that problem sorted

      Yeah ive got a bt engineer coming to check out the line on friday.

      Just out of interest, have you tried with another phone (cordless or corded),

      from reading your posts, you seem to have had the problem before you had the BB, a corded phone would be better to test with (you can pick up cheap ones from most supermarkets for about 4)

      may save a cost from BT if it is just a phone problem
