      Router Disconnecting

Hi everyone, i have had a few problems this evening. For some reason, my router has lost the connection on two occasions. When this happens, the light stays green until i restart the router. Then it takes a very long time to reconnect. The first time took about 30 minutes and the second time took just over two hours. Now when i phoned up sky, they couldn't help as they were having problems with their equipment at the call centre. So i am wondering if the two are connected in any way. Has anyone else had any problems this evening, or is this a known problem with Sky and it's routers. i am using the netgear DG934G.

No this is not a known problem with sky and the 2 sytems are not really connected in such a way that it would cause this problem.

      Re: Router Disconnecting

Are you connecting with Wireless? If the light is staying green, it suggests the router is not in fact disconnecting from the Internet and the problem may be elsewhere. There is a chance of course that the router is faulty.

      Re: Router Disconnecting

It's possible that there's a problem in your area that will hopefully be a temporary one, however take a look at Isitme's post and make sure it's not just your wireless failing on the Netgear router as I've had that happen with 2 Sky modified Netgear routers so far and still no fix with them.

Still NO solution from Sky! Still not fixed!

      Re: Router Disconnecting

You should alsp have a look at the router Statistics, these will show if your internet connection (WAN) is dropping or your wireless (WLAN). The router log should also contain details of any disconnections from the net.
