      Re: Seamless Rate Adaption

Try rebooting your router at a noisy time when the SNR is very low, usually around 9.30-10.00pm. If it resyncs about 7 dbs, then falls quickly, it probably indicates a line problem.

      Re: Seamless Rate Adaption

When I reboot the router it reconnects with a sync of no higher than 4db. It's impossible to make it sync at 7 during the evening.

      Re: Seamless Rate Adaption

I had an engineer out previously because of echoing on the line and they went away saying it was normal & charged me 100 for the visit! I managed to negotiate it down to 50 after several months of quering it. The echoing has gone now but I dont fancy getting BT out again - I know they will charge me again.

      Re: Seamless Rate Adaption

Instead of rebooting, try turning the power off for a minute then back on again. This will definitely force a resync, which if the router is working OK, should give you a SNR of 6-7dbs. It could be that rebooting is not completely severing your link with the exchange, but that is a pure guess.

If you had the older router I would suggest setting a higher SNR, but as you have the V2, that is not yet possible.(I don't think) The only alternative I can see is to ask Sky to cap your line slightly. You would have to be careful about this, as if you get one of the 'couldn't care less' techs, they could just move you to G,DMT, which would cap you at 8Mb. Your line would be stable but at a big cost in speed. A good one will drop it gradually to keep your speed as high as possible, a drop of 600kbps could make all the difference.

Straight after unplugging from the wall and plugging back in after 5 minutes.

The noise margin is low again. Weird eh!
