      Speed problems

      Hi, i really hope someone can help me improve my broadband speed

      Ive got the Max package, had it since October last year. Everything was working perfect, i was getting downloads of over 1mb/s off Rapidshare etc and web pages loaded instantly

      Last month or two its slowed down. I get 200kb/s if im lucky. Most times its stuck around the 100/150kb/s mark

      Hope someone can help me

      We need some more information. Like are you connected wireless or hard wired? Are you connected to the master socket and are you using any extentions. Have you filters on all telephone sockets including sky box. If possible post your router stats.

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

      I'm mostly on wireless but the speed doesnt improve when wired.

      I dont have filters on any sockets - never have done. I had a BT engineer out about a year and a half ago and he installed a socket which has ADSL V1.0 written on it and he told me i didnt need to use any filters in the other sockets.

      Another thing, ive never used the Sky router. I use my own BT Voyager router and have done since i joined Sky

      perhaps run the Sky router so you can get stats from it - also best let it update (if it's a Phase 1) as Sky might sus you're not using their router and cut you off...

      i have a similar issue, and my problem appears to be due to exchange congestion.

      what happens if you try to download in the early hours of the morning? (not on a weekend especially bank holiday)


      do you have anything like bbc iplayer or 4od installed?

      tbh I havent run any speed tests in the morning so i dont know if the speed is any better.

      Are those stats ok? I have no idea what they mean. I dont have bbc iplayer of 4od installed

      I'll also dig out the Sky router and post the stats from that
