Sent off an email to sky customer services about that a bit earlier. Hopefully I'll hear something back. I'm almost convinced BT have capped the line somewhere as its rather coincidental that its happened at the same time we switched the line rental over to sky.
I dont seem to have much luck with broadband, a few years back when trying to Migrate from Freeserve to Pipex, Freeserve refused to free up the line as apparently we hadn't paid them for 14 months. That was fun trying to sort out....

Will have to get back onto sky as its not syncing above 2900, think this may be as they were trying to set the sync speed manually the last time i rang tech support and they left it at this number. Wonder whats changed to get the speed back up?

      Re: Speed reduction

The cap appears to have been lifted a bit, but even for this small rise you are showing a very large, over 30%, error rate. Your line will not be stable. If this is from the Test socket, then your line/exchange has a bad fault. You can only get on to Sky and ask them to check your line again. You could try an online check yourself by going HERE and entering your phone number. You never know, you might get a result.

      Re: Speed reduction

      Update:

After all this time the problem has still not been resolved. I have been in contact with sky countless times these past weeks and getting damn fed up. Everytime we contact them its always a different person we talk to that tries to get us to go through the same old crap with the router, master socket etc etc. All that happens is they pass the fault onto BT, and all BT do is re-sync the line and send us a voice text message telling us thats whats happened.

Even after explaining to sky this is not resolving to the issue and to get onto BT to actually find out WHY we have lost 6MB of speed and being assured that BT will contact us in person as to what is being done all we get is a line re-sync and another voice text message. From the last phonecall (in which I was hung up on for the second time in a row for asking to speak to a supervisor) I established that all that had happened again was another re-sync and the reference being closed. It seems that Sky's indian call centre are not even contacting BT and are just re-syncing the line themselves.

We pay Sky for the phone line rental and the broadband service, we are not a BT customer and from my understanding cannot contact BT directly to get the fault actually looked into. Doe's anyone have a suggestion as to where I can go next? Is there somewhere I can contact like a regulatory body for broadband or telephone services that can give sky and BT a kick up the backside to actually do something?

      Re: Speed reduction

Sky seem to be either reluctant to give it out, or don't have a dedicated line for Line faults. It appears they are happy to take your money but do little in return. The only 2 numbers on Sky Talk T & Cs are 08442 41 41 41 and 08442 410 499. Have you tried either of these for the Line faults? There is every chance that they may dump you in the Philippines, but you never know, you might get a result.
