      Information on Noise?

      Hey,

Joined Sky not to long ago as I moved house and ADSL is all new to me as I have had Cable for as long as, well my entire broadband days!

I had problems with speeds at first but was helped on this forum as I needed Microfilters in all sockets yet thats not my problem this time!

I checked my statistics and the noise is alot higher than it normally is, is there any reason for this?

At the moment its 9.3 Down and 7.0 Up
It has been for a long time 8.6 down and 8.0 up

Any reasons for this? Also Sky put my Max Delays down to 8 and then 2 days later put them back up so emailed them and they put them back down again but since this Im having massive problems with disconnects etc etc...

      Thanks for Advice!

If I remember rightly, you have a line attenuation of 56db, you have removed the ring wire (3 from the master). So the next step would be to post your line stats when connected to the test socket of the master (it's the one under the faceplate) If your connection is then more stable you need to look at your internal wiring.

      Re: Information on Noise?

      Hey,

I think the problem might be the router to be honest, I had it switched off last night where as I normally have it on all the time and it didnt connect right, it seems ok now accept the speed is a little less than normal...

      Stats are as follows!

      Connection Speed: 3072 kbps / 736 kbps
      Line Attenuation: 57 db / 31.5 db
      Noise Margin: 9.3 db / 7.2 db

      They are normally
      3320 kbps / 7xx kbps,
      57 db / 31.5 db,
      8.6 / 8.0

^If you've booted it up in the evening you can usually expect a slower sync.

^^^ yes, and it is less likely to drop the connection because it has negotiated the nm at a noisy time.
