      Unhappy Limited Connection Problems

      hey there,
so here is the situation... 3 computers connected to the router (Netgear DG934G) 1 wireless 2 wired, swapped Ethernet cables between the two wired PCs as router was moved.. one PC continued to get Internet and the other gets a limited connection error. cable has been tested and is fully functional. Light appears on router for nonworking PC and Ethernet port at back of nonworking PC flashes as if its receiving data. both PCs run xp but working one runs sp3, nonworking runs sp2 (altho i don't think that would effect it too much) Iv tryed setting static ip on nonworking PC with no success. Am completely stumped on what to try now. Hoping someone here might be able to offer some advise.
      Thanks for your help

      Re: Limited Connection Problems

Are you able to ping the router ?

Start > Run > CMD At the command prompt type ping 192.168.0.1

If you get four replys then there is a connection to the router. If it does not then try

      ping 127.0.0.1

That should pass, If it fails which sounds like it may do post the results please

      Re: Limited Connection Problems

Have you tried the non working one just on its own, no other wired or wireless connection to the router.

Assign the IP address to the card
IP 192.168.0.51 < make sure the other devices have different IP addresses
      Sub Net 255.255.255.0
      Gateway 192.168.0.1
      Prefered DNS 192.168.0.1

      Re: Limited Connection Problems

Have you updated the driver for the network card lately. Maybe worth rolling that back. If that does not work. Uninstall the driver fror the card and re-install. It's not going to be a problem with the router, it's more posic based. Er, I was thinking possibly unistall tcpip from the network card and then re-install 1st.
