Unhappy Help - frequently losing connection

      Hello

I got Sky BB last week and so far experience is far from good

My problem is that often connection drops - no pattern, just randomly. Sometimes I get connection sometimes not. I'm using Sky's own router with Ethernet cable. Sky customer support is useless - they asked me to do this/that (like changing ADSL filter, restarting computer etc.) but still same problem - sometimes get connection sometimes not.

      Any idea?

I'm in 5/month mid package. Previously with NTL/VM for broadband and never had any connection issue!

      Thanx

"Sky customer support is useless - they asked me to do this/that" This and that is not useless. You may have a iffy filter or something are you using a telephone ext. Could you post your stats when you are plugged into the test socket, thats if you don't think its a waste of time.

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

Right now I am using a telephone extension. But as per Sky's advise, I tried directly from BT line socket, still no improvement. Then I reverted back to extension as without the extension, a long wire will remain laid on carpet.

My stat shows this: [not sure if I got this right]

      System Up Time: 0:09:15
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time

Do you have a test socket?

In explorer. open up the page 192.168.0.1 User admin password sky

The speed details under Modem also click show statistics and post all that info from there, then we can see noise etc..

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

Get back onto the main socket without an extension, if you have a test socket use that instead. Make sure that only the telephone and router are connected to the socket by a filter and then post a set of full stats (those in your post are not the ones needed) so people can help you. Your extension will not be helping you at all and needs to be kept out of the way until your line connection is stabilised.
Also remove the MAC and IP addresses from your post please.

      Apology for my ignorance!

What is test socket and why an extension can interfere with connection?

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

^Its a hidden test socket behind the master socket it rules out any extensions you may have.

Try posting your detailed stats from here.
